Hand-made art from Kathryn Rawson, in watercolor, gouache, pencil and markers. From portraits of the people you love to silly little bunny doodles, every piece is meant to help you notice the light around you, even on the not-so-perfect days.
What we believe
A bowl of lemons, a rainy afternoon, a favorite face. The ordinary is worth painting.
Smudges, lopsided bunny ears and a cloud that turned into a potato all get to stay. Life is a little messy, and the joy is in there anyway.
Made by someone who knows hard days too, this studio is a gentle place to rest your eyes and smile.
Every piece is drawn and painted by a real person. No shortcuts, no AI.
About the studio
KC Rawson Studio is a small, family-run art studio in Utah. Kathryn is the painter, and she's been painting since she was a little girl. She works mostly in watercolor and gouache, layered with pencil and markers. Cayden is her loving, supportive husband, and he handles most of the finances and business side so Kathryn can keep her hands in the paint.
Our whole idea is simple: capture the beauty of life and add a few dreams into the everyday. Kathryn knows hard days too, so she makes art to make them a little easier. Some pieces are tender portraits of family and friends. Others are silly little bunny doodles. All of them are an invitation to notice the light that's already around you, and to find joy in it even when life isn't perfect.
Some days are heavy, and painting helps Kathryn quiet her thoughts and notice the light again. It helps her enjoy life more, and she hopes her work does a little of that for you too.
When she's not painting, you'll find her building and creating in Minecraft or out on a walk. She's a Christian, and her faith is a big part of the hope and gratitude she brings to her work.
Every commission gets the same care she gives her own sketchbook.

What's included: every commission comes with a high-quality print or digital scan of your artwork. Want the physical original of a traditional (non-digital) piece? That's available for an added original piece fee, quoted per piece.
Mediums: watercolor, gouache, pencil, and acrylic & alcohol markers. I don't work in oil or pastel. Curious about acrylic paint? Just ask me.
Art use: your commission comes with personal-use rights only. The artist keeps the copyright to every piece. Artwork may not be copied, reproduced, sold, or used commercially or for AI training without the artist's express written consent.
Most commissions take 3–6 weeks, and they may take longer during busy seasons like the holidays. If you have a deadline, like a birthday or holiday, put it in the form and we'll tell you up front whether we can meet it.
I usually reply within 1–5 business days. During busy seasons it may take a little longer, but every message gets an answer.
Clear, well-lit photos taken at eye level work best, ideally in natural light. Send a few: one for the overall look, and close-ups of details like eyes, markings or a favorite expression.
Yes. Watercolor and gouache are the signature style, and you can also request pencil or acrylic and alcohol markers. Oil and pastel aren't offered. Acrylic paint? Ask me. If you're not sure, we'll suggest the medium that suits your subject.
No payment is taken until we're ready to begin sketching. At that point, a 50% deposit is due and reserves your spot. The remaining balance is due when you've approved the finished piece, before it ships. If your piece grows beyond the original quote (more subjects, a bigger scene or extra hours), you'll get a new quote to approve before any more work happens. No surprise charges, ever. If plans change on either side, refunds follow the refund policy below, based on how far along your piece is.
Payments are made through secure invoices via PayPal (Goods & Services) or Square, which protect both you and the artist. You can pay by card or PayPal balance, and you'll get a clear receipt for every payment. For everyone's safety, Zelle, Cash App and personal or Friends & Family transfers aren't accepted.
Before work begins, you can get a full refund. Once sketching or painting has started, we'll work out a fair partial refund together based on how far along the piece is. Finished pieces aren't refundable.
Yes! Shipping is the main way artwork is delivered, and it's included in your final price. Local pickup within Utah may be possible by arrangement, so just ask.
